Let me just be very honest – I feel incredibly fortunate to collaborate with some brilliant individuals who inspire me daily.
Recently, a client of mine shared with me her desire to find purpose, which ironically, prompted me to pause and reflect.
While I’ve focused a lot always on personal visions and goal setting, the concept of a deeper “Purpose” just intrigued me, leading me on a journey of exploration.
I found IKIGAI, a Japanese concept that means your ‘reason for being’.
Ikigai, with its four-fold intersection of passion, vocation, mission, and profession, offers a holistic perspective on finding purpose. The sweet spot lies in aligning something you love, excel at, and that the world needs with something that pays the bills.
According to the concept of Ikigai, the sweet spot is:
- Something you love to do
- Something you are good at
- Something that people need
- Something that pays you
Reflecting on my own journey, I realized that my purpose has always been to assist others in achieving their aspirations. Though it wasn’t always explicit early in my career (if only I had a coach), the clarity emerged to me over time.
In my coaching practice, I often emphasize the transformative power of infusing joy into the pursuit of new habits. Work becomes significantly more enjoyable when approached as a game. Imagine if uncovering your purpose felt like playing a game!
Enter PVRPOSE – an innovative card game designed by Juan Grey.
This creative tool not only facilitates a deeper understanding of oneself but also fosters stronger connections with others.
During my conversation with Juan, he shared an interesting insight: he hasn’t met anyone with a clear purpose who is depressed. While not backed by hard research, Juan’s extensive network and my own experiences resonate with this notion. Purpose seems to be a key element in creating a fulfilling and positive life.
Playing at your purpose definitely becomes a transformative experience when approached with curiosity and a willingness to explore. Whether you resonate with IKIGAI’s 4 dimensions or are enticed by the innovative PVRPOSE card game, the key is to embark on the journey with an open heart and a sense of playfulness.
As you navigate life’s game, may you uncover the layers of your purpose and enjoy the fulfilling rewards it brings to your personal and professional life.
And, if you ever need help, I am always happy to listen, share my experiences and help you achieve yours.
